Health and Wellness Initiatives
Worker Safety
Given the nature of our business, safety comes first.
The Exploration and Production Division of Total (of which Total E&P Canada is a subsidiary) has developed its Health, Safety and Environment management system based on the 12 MAESTRO principles. MAESTRO is short for Management and Expectations Standards Toward Robust Operations.
These 12 principles form the foundation for our Health, Safety and Environment Management System and outline 92 safety expectations that all employees observe. These expectations help ensure we address the range of Health, Safety and Environmental concerns throughout our
business.
12 Golden Rules
In addition, Total E&P Canada promotes a Safety campaign of 12 Golden Rules that cover the full range of work we perform. Developed by Total E&P, these rules are used across our worldwide operations to maintain a diligent level of focus on work which has proven to be high risk to employees including:

Total believes strongly in promoting safety, wellness, and a healthy lifestyle to our employees and contractors. These Health and Safety initiatives are part of Total’s commitment to help encourage positive lifestyle choices throughout the company.
Wellness
At Total E&P Canada, we believe that Health and Wellness is fundamental to creating an integrated, safer workplace for employees and contractors.
Total’s comprehensive Health and Wellness program offers employees the support they need to deal with difficult issues as well as life’s daily challenges through an extensive Health Benefits program.
Total’s Health and Wellness program includes a focus on preventative care through Health and Safety programs, ergonomics assessments, and a fitness plan. This wide range of programs promotes employee well-being throughout the company.
Our Lifeworks program offers a comprehensive resource to help employees and their families face life's everyday challenges. The program offers information on topics including nutrition and exercise, financial planning, and guidance for new parents.
Our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offers confidential, professional support to help employees and their families resolve problems that affect their personal lives and, in some cases, their professional lives. This includes managing mental health: dealing with stress, emotional distress, substance abuse, and relationship issues.
