Land Reclamation
At Total E&P Canada, we plan for the reclamation of the land at the same time as we plan for project development. We do not do one without the other. For our Joslyn Asset, we are committed to using the best progressive reclamation practices. Land will be reclaimed throughout the lifecycle of the operation as opposed to the end. It is estimated that two-thirds of the Joslyn site will be reclaimed by the mine closure date, and the entire Joslyn Asset is expected to be reclaimed once completed.
The plan also involves environmental protection at the outset, including setting aside corridors for local wildlife, building a permanent freshwater lake, and reconstructing a stream. Read more information about our Joslyn Asset.
We are also achieving results through our membership in the Oil Sands Leadership Initiative
