Commitment to Dialogue

As an oil sands developer, it is crucial for us to engage our stakeholders in dialogue, and be transparent and sensitive to their concerns.

Total E&P Canada has implemented a Stakeholder Relations Management (SRM+) system which relies on extensive impact monitoring, consultation and consensus building. Built on the best practices learned from Total projects all over the world, our methodology engages stakeholders in a meaningful way and monitors and manages their concerns over the life of a project.

With all our projects located within the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, members of the Wood Buffalo community have already taken part in workshops with local and international Total staff.

Our SRM+ system has also helped us forge ties with representatives of the First Nations and Métis communities near our projects, and supported consultation with regional and environmental stakeholder groups.

We are committed to ensuring that socioeconomic considerations are integrated into our business decisions. We do this by delivering sound project management; creating value for our stakeholders through training, education and employment opportunities; supporting communities through capacity building; direct contributions to cultural diversity; environmental improvement and monitoring; and community development, recreation, health and safety.
